June In Review

I’m starting these posts at the end of the month to reminisce on what I’ve done over the last month and things I can improve on.

The first week of the month was mostly spent studying for exams. I feel like I prepared well for my exams, but also balanced my social life, which was crucial as it was my last few weeks in England.

After my exams were finished, I met Dan’s family. They’re all lovely people and I’m glad I had the chance to meet them before I went back to the United States. My very last days in England were spent wandering around Brighton and spending time with Dan and Ben.

Before I knew it, I was back in Tucson. My first week was spent catching up with family and friends, unpacking, going through my junk (being abroad made me realize how little of all my stuff I actually use) and otherwise keeping busy by applying for jobs, knitting, coloring, painting, working out, reading and helping my mom around the house.

When my mom’s primary caretaker went out of town for vacation, I took her place. I spend about one to two hours helping my mom get ready for the day including hair, make-up, occasional washes, making her breakfast and cleaning the house. I will continue to be my mom’s acting caretaker until her primary caretaker is back from her vacations in a few weeks.

I got an internship at the Pima County Democratic Party. It is unpaid, but I feel this would be a good experience. My group is focusing on the Senate election as many believe this could be a crucial election for Arizona to become Democrat. So far, I’ve just made some phone calls recruiting other volunteers (all registered Democrats) and this weekend, we will go out and encourage people to register to vote with whatever party they feel appropriate.

Although I got a few offers to pet-sit, I am still trying for a real job. I have a few interviews lined up and hope to get a job soon!

Here are some new things I listened to, watched and read with my favorites in bold:

What I am listening to: To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere by Thrice, Icon for Hire by Icon for Hire, The Artist In The Ambulance by Thrice, Infinity on High by Fall Out Boy, Only By The Night by Kings of Leon

What I am watching: Bob’s Burgers (season 5), Peep Show, Orange is the New Black (season 4), Super Size Me

What I am reading: The Big Trip
