What do you know, I’m still working in Dutch Harbor, Alaska.
Luckily, I got to have a few final fun nights out before social distancing was strongly urged by my company. As I mentioned in one of my posts, COVID-19 although it’s not against the rules to go out, I still try to keep to my boat as often as I can. With only a few boats left offloading at the plant, we don’t have a lot of town time anyway. However, I did go on a lovely hike with a few co-workers.
To minimize the travel to and from Seattle (where our program is based), my bosses have asked people already in the field like myself to extend our contracts and stay up. I offered to work some more but I was told I would probably not be needed. With my brothers’ graduation and divemaster training in Honduras is likely going to get cancelled and with my grandma being susceptible to the virus as well as my mom, I don’t want to go home especially from the hotbed that is Seattle, so I’m not sure what will happen. Hopefully we all find some direction soon in this trying time.
