Yet another month of self-isolation. I know a lot of the world and some of the U.S. is starting to open yet, but living with my grandma who is high-risk, I’m mostly staying at home which I don’t mind so much.
I came back to Southern California to live with my grandma as I did for the first half of 2019 to escape the Arizona heat and help her around the house as she recovers from a brief (non-COVID) hospital stay. A few days after my arrival, she was admitted back into the hospital, but has been home for a few weeks now and getting stronger by the day. I’m happy to be here to spend time with her and lend a helping hand.
In SoCal, I’ve been enjoying the nice weather with walks, hikes and beach days. It’s cooler than Arizona, but still a bit warm. I’ve also continued my quarantine hobbies of reading, embroidery, applying for jobs, watching Netflix and taking care of some administrative tasks.
As of the 27th, I’ve been in northern Oregon camping again with my special friend Grant (hello, queued post!). I can’t wait to share in another post, coastal Oregon is so lovely. On one final note, I’ve been summoned by my boss for a short work season in Alaska next and I think I’ll probably take it, especially since I’ll be eligible for a handsome bonus at the end of the year if I do. That’s nice that you’re staying with and helping your grandma-the beach and hikes in California sound like they’d be fun too! An end-of-the-year bonus does sound tempting, it would definitely be a nice perk if you take that job!
