Happy spring! The days are longer, the sun has come out to play and people are getting vaccinated. I just got my first Pfizer yesterday and can’t wait for it to be safe to go out and see my family again.
As usual, I work full-time and spend the weekends exploring Seattle. One Saturday, Grant, Sam and I went to the Woodland Park Zoo, which is walking distance from our house. It’s a lot bigger than I was expecting! My favorite animals were the red pandas and the meerkats (they’re some of the most murderous animals, did you know 20% of meerkats death come at the hands of another meerkat?!) and the tapir was also really interesting.
Another weekend, Grant and I explored Capitol Hill: a used bookstore filled with cats called Twice Sold Tales, ice cream at Molly Moon’s and sat around in Volunteer Park. A relaxing day but it was still nice to get out.
Another weekend, I walked to the Fremont Sunday Market with my coworker Tony, a collection of small businesses on the Fremont waterfront, you guessed it, every Sunday. We both got some things (I got an earring holder and plants) and got some street food: a Japanese waffle in the shape of a fish!
Finally, I had some observer friends around between deployments and we did what we do best: get drunk, play pool and shoot the shit. It was so good to see some familiar faces and catch up.
