Happy July! Who else is enjoying the summer? Hopefully y’all haven’t been experiencing crazy high temperatures like we have in the PNW.
At the beginning of June, Grant and I went camping with his friends on Bainbridge Island at Fay Bainbridge. We took the ferry over, had dinner in Poulsbo at Sam’s family’s house and then headed for the campground. We got three campsites to accommodate the seven of us. We stargazed, sat on the beach and made a campfire. The next morning, we wandered around Poulsbo and headed home. It was nice to meet more of Grant’s friends and have a big gathering one again now that the U.S. is opening back up.
Grant and I also went to Deception Pass for a night. I had no idea it was Washington’s most popular state park but I see why! Lots of camp sites and things to do like hiking, swimming, pass tours and the beach. We both agreed we must come back here for a longer stay.
As you’ve probably seen in the news, the Pacific Northwest was hit by a record-breaking heat wave earlier this week. And yes, I’m from Arizona but it’s a dry heat. During the 100°+ temperatures, it was also 30-50% humidity and there is no air conditioning in my house. Fans, ice cream and cold drinks like lemonade and coconut water were sold out everywhere. Needless to say, we all suffered but it’s over now and I’m glad to heave weather I actually enjoy being outside in. This is why I moved here!
I’ve also bought a lot of concert tickets this month for future gigs: Tame Impala, Marina, Purity Ring and more. Live music is definitely one of the things I missed most about lockdown and I’m excited to make up for it.
July is going to be mad: I’m getting a tattoo, taking a scuba diving course (both of which will have separate dedicated posts) and we hope to get some visitors and play tour guide!
