Life as we know it
Started off the month with seeing Jeff Rosenstock live at Neumos! He sounded amazing and I loved the openers: Catbite and Chris Farren. I love artists who don’t take themselves too seriously.
Grant and I tried to camp on Camano Island. The night we arrived it was rainy and muddy and we struggled to set up our gear. The next morning looked a little bit better, but it was forecasted to rain more, so we packed it in and headed home, not wanting to get caught in the rain again.
I wanted to feel something, so I got a tattoo at Hidden Hand in Fremont. I will make a separate post about it very soon!
Speaking of Fremont, the neighborhood held their annual Summer Solstice Festival! We walked down to watch the naked bike ride (we will definitely participate next year), enjoy some food carts and vendors and watch the parade. It was so fun!
My brother Ryan visited for a few days and we played tourist: exploring Fremont, taking the Underground Tour, walking around Pike’s Place and going up the Space Needle. Mt. Rainer was out and the sun was shining so it was an especially nice day to see the city from above.
Additionally, we went to Seattle Pride with my friend Ryan hosting a party at his house before heading to the Seattle Center and went to a Seattle Mariners game. Predictably, they lost badly but it was my first professional baseball game and it was nice just to see the park and spend one last evening with my baby brother.
Other than that, I’ve been working for the summer as a teacher-ish. It’s basically a daycare with a light academic theme and while working with kids age 5-11 is tiring, I always go home with a smile on my face, I work well with everyone there and I get to start and end my workday with a beautiful bike ride commute. Here’s to summer!
